The AmeriCorps VISTA program based out of the Multicultural Coalition is a great way to get involved in a Midwest community, create a positive impact in minority and poverty issues, build resumes and gain experience in the non-profit sector. Located in Grand Island, Nebraska, this VISTA program has several openings that assist with the poverty elimination and diversity engagement in this community.
The term of service is forty hours per week, June 2017 through June 2018.

AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a non-profit organization or public agency. They focus their efforts to build the organizational, administrative and financial capacity of organizations that fight illiteracy, improve health services, foster economic development and otherwise assist low-income communities.
